I agree with the concerns for Davey Bridge. A bypass would no doubt doom the structure in the future. Traffic = people, people=money to spend. Figure out how to get more people out of their cars and shopping-that is the solution!

I like the bridge / parallel parking ideas -- they're cost-effective and could be implemented quickly.

As it is, I live in Portland and drive through W several dozen times a year. I have asked family and friends to not spend nickel one in that town until they get this sorted out. The level of self-absorption required to keep your own town running at the expense of every single coastal town to the east is reprehensible. The owners of Red's, in particular, should be ashamed of themselves for their part in this.

I am a frequent visitor to Wiscasset. In my opinion, there are several other options to eliminate traffic problems other then a bypass. Before you jeopardize the economy of the "prettiest village in Maine" you should explore all of them. Wiscasset businesses thrive on tourism... why would you take that away when you can solve the problem other ways?
